I recently received proofs of a copy-edited article of mine that will be published soon. The copy-editor did a great job in lots of areas, but one thing that really bothered me was that they removed the “s” every time I’d written the word “feminisms.” As if there could only be one, capital-F feminism. While I know this was an error based in ignorance and not malice, it reminded me of the very important problem of acknowledging and supporting allies in social justice. And, happily, that work is happening. Check it out.
