I’m beginning a new project on medical imaging, and I was interested to find this story on top trends in medical imaging for last year. While several of these bullet point “trends” are clearly connected and/or unsurprising, they demonstrate an overall shift in the way we view and use medical imaging. Of particular interest, I think, is the second bullet, which reports that “Text-only reports are fading away” and that “multimedia reports provided easier access to images while monitoring progression of a condition, and saved time understanding findings without supporting images.” I’m thinking now about ways to get information about how patients view medical imaging and its use-value … time to brush up on survey design!
